History of the FSCR

The Figure Skating Club of Rockford, formerly known as the Chalet Club of Rockford, began in the early 1960’s when Rockford’s first ice arena opened on Charles Street.  This privately owned facility closed several years later and a small group of charter members of the Chalet Club maintained an inactive status with the USFSA.  In 1975, when Rockford Park District opened the Riverview Ice House, the Chalet Club changed their name to the FSCR and became an active USFSA club again.

The FSCR has been home to many national competitors.  These have been included:

Damon Allen – 1991 National Junior Men’s Champion & 1992 World Junior Championship Bronze Medalist

Lisa Bell – 1994 National Junior Ladies Bronze Medalist

Sandy Lenz – 1980 National Senior Ladies Bronze Medalist & 1980 U.S. Olympic Figure Skating Team member

Caryn Kadavy – 1987 World Senior Ladies Bronze Medalist & 1988 Olympic Competitor
